iPad information series: Can you put a sim card in an iPad?

There are two different models of iPads. WIFI only, which do not accept sim cards, and WIFI and Data, and these do accept sim cards.

How does a sim card work in a iPad?

Inserting a sim card into your iPad works exactly like that in your refurbished iPhone or Samsung. All you need to do is chose the best sim only deal, with the right amount of data that suits your needs. Once selected and you have received your new sim card, insert this into your refurbished iPad and your tablet will then use its cellular connectivity to connect to the cell tower, and you will then be able to use data in order to connect to the internet.

How to remove a sim card in a iPad

The slot for the sim tray is located on the side of an iPad and can be removed using a small sim release tool. Located next to the sim tray is a small hole, lightly insert the sim release tool and press down to eject the sim tray. Next place your sim card into the tray and push back into your iPad.

Here at WeBuyTek all our iPad tablets that support cellular connectivity are supplied with a sim release tool as standard to enable you to insert your sim card straight away.

How to view how much data used on a iPad

To ensure you are not using all your monthly data allowance too soon, always keep regular checks on your data usage. To view your data usage:

  • Settings – Mobile Data – Scroll down to view usage totals

As well as showing how much data each app uses, there is also a Current Period data usage which will show the total amount used within that period. This period can be reset and it is often a good idea to reset this at the end of each month so you know exactly how much data you have used to allow you to keep within your data allowance.
